The river as thread / The canoe as needle
The bronze canoe is inscribed with the route taken by Alexander Mackenzie across the rivers of the „Canadian“ territory at the end of the 18th century. This journey, from Montreal to the Pacific Ocean, via the Beaufort Sea, could only have been undertaken by canoe.
This work recalls the timeless ambition to discover new territories and the essential role of the canoe in Canada’s formation.
